Public DNS for Faster Internet Access

I came across the following TIP while reading an article which offered a number tips that would generally speed up our Internet browsing. I see no need to list the specific tutorial as there are many to be found on the subject but foremost of the TIPS suggested was to switch to Google Chrome. However also offered within same article was a little known TIP which claimed to offer faster NET access by simply switching our DNS server to one of the FREE Public DNS Servers such as the one offered by Google. 

Typically DNS services are provided by our internet service provider or ISP. The DNS stands for 'Domain Name System' which is a benchmark technology for supervising the names of Websites and other domain names.

Generally "DNS servers of ISP cannot handle traffic during major times which results in the slow speed of the Internet or sometimes server down trouble. This problem is modified in the Free Public DNS Servers that can handle any amount of traffic at any time. There are multiple servers, if one breaks down; other is ready to operate for you. ~ thegeekyglobe.com"

Switching to a FREE Public DNS Server
   
After setting up Google's Public DNS on my system I did indeed notice a speed gain in my Internet access.

I went with OpenDNS but experiment with any of the free DNS servers yourself. You might do better than I did, good luck.
