FREE Photo Editors Redux

I don't think anyone would disagree when talking about FREE Photo-editing GIMP a popular open-source photo-editor would be first to make the list. Now entering the picture (sorry for the pun) is another choice, LightZone, un-bloated but powerful commercial package first released in 2005 but in 2011 suddenly shut down according to my source. However FAN interest was kept alive so Light Crafts released the source code under an open-source license. Downloads (v4.0) available for Windows, Linux and in the near future Mac OS platforms. In the meantime Mac OS users can choose the beta version of 4.0 or version 3.9.2

Note: Due to sudden interest in LightZone the providers have reached their download limits therefor for now many can't download the software. More on this at We are being flooded 600+ new members in 24 hours. In short they ask us to be patient as they promise to remedy the downloading issues ASAP. Also for Windows users I quote: "The build is currently broken, but being recompiled with a new compiler. So you should be waiting anyway. We should have things fixed soon."
